Longing For More | The Power of Consistency

How Daily Disciplines Strengthen Your Walk with God

Let’s talk truth for a moment. You don’t drift into spiritual maturity, you grow into it. And growth? It’s slow. Steady. Daily. It doesn’t always come with fireworks or fanfare. But when you look back, you’ll see that the days you chose to pray, to open your Bible, to worship when no one was watching…that’s where the transformation happened.

Romans 12:2 (TPT) reminds us, “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think.” Consistency, fueled by the Spirit, is how that reformation begins. It’s not about religious routine, it is all about relationship. A love so real that it keeps drawing you back, day after day.

One of the biggest lies the enemy whispers is that you’re not making progress unless you feel something. But faith isn’t based on feeling, it’s founded in truth. Galatians 6:9 (GW) encourages us, “We can’t allow ourselves to get tired of living the right way. Certainly, each of us will receive everlasting life at the proper time, if we don’t give up.”

Consistency is the bridge between where you are and where God is calling you. It’s built through:

Prayer – talking and listening to God daily, inviting Him into everything.

The Word – feeding your soul with the truth that sets you free (John 8:32).

Worship – re-centering your heart, remembering who He is and who you are.

We make time for what we value. And if we’re honest, many of us are more consistent with our phones than we are with our faith. But when you’ve tasted the goodness of God, you begin to yearn for more of Him. Consistency can’t be forced; it must flow from desire. Psalm 42:1 (NIV) says, “As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God.” That kind of longing doesn’t need a reminder.

We also can’t forget the gift of people, such as mentors, leaders, sisters and brothers in Christ, who are pouring into us. Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise.” Surround yourself with those who are walking strong, who challenge you to keep going even when you’d rather give up.

Charles Spurgeon once said, “By perseverance, the snail reached the ark.” It’s not about speed, it’s about showing up. Day by day. Step by step.

So here’s the invitation: Take an honest look at your rhythm. Are you consistent in the places that matter most? If not, that’s not shame, it’s your cue. Start small. Set your eyes on Him. Let His love draw you in deeper.

And my prayer? That consistency won’t be something you strive for. It’ll become your lifestyle. No one will have to push you into it, because you’ll desire it. You’ll long for Him.

Let’s long for more of God. Let’s walk it out. Every single day.
